What a great Oyster Festival once again!

This Year….  New venue in Knysna for Oyster Festival hub!

The Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival has a new venue in Knysna, due to the fact that the traditional venue at Loerie Park has been booked for the whole of June by the Danish football team, which will make its base camp at Simola Hotel & Spa in Knysna and will be using the Loerie Park field for practice.

The festival hub has therefore been moved to Waterfront Drive and will be known as the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Grounds. The Heineken® Pavilion will be erected here and this is where the start and finish of the Pick n Pay Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tours will take place and the Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon will finish.

The Heineken® Pavilion is also the venue for the Pick n Pay Oyster & Wine Mardi Gras sponsored by Tabasco on Wednesday 7 July, and the Official Heineken® Afterparty on Saturday 10 July at which the Parlotones and Flat Stanley will be playing.

The Oyster Festival Grounds will also host the Oyster Carnival with its fun fair and craft stalls.

Golf in the Garden Route is promoting their Brand at the School Grounds around all the festivities and events….  What a great vibe it is and well surported!!

Elecki oyster champion again!

Elecki Ngcwangu won the annual Oyster Shucking competition for the umpteenth time in a time of 2:53. In this time he opened 30 oysters. Elecki gained his oyster opening skills while working at the Knysna Oyster Co. When he won 4 years ago he went to Ireland to compete in the International Galway Oyster Shucking competition. representing the Knysna Oyster Festival. 780 attend Oyster & Wine Mardi Gras

The 2010 Oyster & Wine Mardi Gras drew a crowd of 780 people savoring the oysters from 40 stalls and wine on display at 19 wine stalls. The winning oyster was cooked by All Things Culinary from Somerset West and the Local Loeries Development Team came third overall. The tastings are done blind by a panel of judges so it was a great honor to see our local development team do so well against all these experienced chefs. They were trained by Martyn Hill and sponsored by Nauticus Place Restaurant in Brenton on Sea.
