Knysna Golf Club was founded in 1909 and only moved to its present location in 1953. It started as a 9-hole course and was made an 18-hole course in 1960. The course originally had bayview greens and very few bunkers until, in 1994, an extensive upgrade program was launched and 19 new Crenshaw bent grass greens were built.
Over the years, new tidal pools and channels have been introduced and real attention paid to the bunkering throughout the layout. That this has been successfully implemented can be seen from the clubhouse, for the eighteenth hole now has a superb bent grass surface covering a large undulating area. Together with an attractive and potentially hazardous water feature as a backdrop, shapely and well-manicured bunkers protecting the green add to what is now a substantial finishing challenge.
The Knysna golf course nevertheless remains an enjoyable and gentle stroll through tree-lined fairways and you will not experience the fatigue you might on the more testing courses in the region. The surrounding hills and mountains provide scenic backdrops and there is a great variety of trees, flowers and bird-life to watch out for. The newly rebuilt clubhouse has a pleasant halfway house with a welcoming bar and deck of substantial proportions. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing, so enjoy!
Practice Facilities
Prior to a round of golf, players are able to practice on a large putting and chipping green as well as a short game practice range (100m). A full-length driving range is situated nearby and enquiries may be made through the club.
Equipment Hire
Golf clubs, pull trolleys and golf cars are all available for hire, although bookings are essential, particularly in season. A team of dedicated and experienced caddies is available to assist the visitor and provide expert advice as you navigate what can be a tricky golfing experience.
Catering
A newly renovated clubhouse comprises a luxurious bar and lounge with 4 widescreen satellite television screens. A large deck with braai (barbeque) facilities overlooks the 9th green and provides a good view of this wonderful golf course’s signature hole. The Halfway House serves light meals, snacks and drinks at affordable prices. The Knysna Golf Club is able to cater for large groups and frequently hosts business and social functions.
Members, visitors and guests are requested to adhere to the club’s dress code. Men may wear long or short socks with golf shorts. No rugby or bermuda shorts, jeans or collarless shirts are permitted to be worn on the golf course. Collared shirts and shoes with socks must be worn in the clubhouse.
All players should familiarise themselves with Knysna Golf Club local rules, copies of which may be found on notice boards with key rules printed on the back of the score card. The use of sand bags is compulsary to repair divots on the fairways and players are required to repair all pitch marks on the greens.
Summer:
October to March – 06.30 – 17.00
Winter:
April to September – 07.00 – 16.30
The Knysna Golf Club is situated adjacent to the famous Knysna lagoon on the way towards the Heads. Turn off the N2 into George Rex Drive and take the fourth turn left into Howard Street. Dear Mariska
Euan and Seumus are driving back from the most spectacular weekend ever. Not only was the accommodation first class, but the arrangements you made for their golf exceeded all expectations. Could you please convey their thanks and appreciation to the owners of the guest house.
Without a doubt they will be back, we will check when Seumus has university holidays as we are hoping it will coincide with your March programme.
Thank you so much for everything, you lead the pack when it comes to top notch service.

Dear Mariska
We have just returned to London after a wonderful golf holiday on the Garden Route.
As usual your organisation was faultless and the whole holiday was a seamless experience. We are now trying to adjust to freezing temperatures in UK.
Once again thank you for your superbly organised holiday.

viewHi Mariska,
We are back home in UK now, had a great time in SA and everything went well with our golf in the Garden Route, although we managed to change our golf days at Pinnacle Point and George due to ‘torrential downpours’………..much needed I know but it did rain for 5 of the 6 days we were there……though not when we played golf,so all was well.
We will certainly consider using your company again when visiting SA although we might choose different accommodation. The Golf Lodge and Town Lodge were very nice but didn’t quite meet our needs…..but it was all very good value.
Best regards
John
