Course Description:

Founded in 1908 the course offers both a wealth of history and reputation. Although not formally recognized as an elitist Cape Club, the Somerset West Golf Course has been the training ground of present and future golfing stars, including one of South Africa’s favourite sons, Trevor Immelman, who learnt the game here.

The Parklands style, Par 72 course runs a true and well-tailored 5 942 meters offering the modern player exquisite bent greens to putt on and smooth fairways that run consistently over the three sections of the course. While some might see the road and railway line as an inconvenience, others have seen and enjoyed the extra challenge provided by them. Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public, but please book your hotel or accommodation in Somerset West and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment.

The rare white squirrels that have made the top nine holes their home are an absolute joy to play the game amongst and topped off with views of the majestic Helderberg slopes and the friendly, welcoming members Somerset West Golf Course is well worth the visit.
