Golf in the Garden Route is Proud to say that 2012 was our Third year of hosting the ANNUAL ULTIMATE GOLFING ROAD TRIP!

The numbers have grown year by year:

2010 – Year 1 – 10 golfers
2011 – Year 2 – 35 golfers
2012 – Year 3 – 64 golfers

What a great group of golfers we had this year – 64 players!!  Today we call YOU all our FRIENDS!

The guys & girls have travelled from far to come and experience the Ultimate Golfing Road Trip:

International, National & Local

International – USA, England, Germany, UK, British
National – Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Limpopo, Kathu, Klerksdorp, Orkney
Local – George, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Sedgefield, Kleinmond, Oudsthoorn, Ladismith

Once again we want to thank all for travelling this far – We are so honoured to have had you all on our Road trip

Without you all this event would have not been possible!!

All prizes were sponsored by SCRATCH GOLF KNYSNA!! Daily prizes consisted of – Carry Bags, Duffel Bags, Umbrellas, Shoe Bags, Caps, Golf Balls, Towels

Overall Prizes – Adams Wedges, TaylorMade Putters, Nike SQ Hybrids, Adams F11 Fairway Driver, Adams F11 Drivers and the Ultimate Winners won a free entry to next years Ultimate Golfing Road Trip 2013

We also had various prizes sponsored by Jetline, Taylormade, The Pro Shop, Garden Route Golf Passport, FX Varsity, Monkey land & Birds of Eden, Cabs Car Hire, Electro Dive in Mossel Bay and Liquor City

To qualify for the overall prize giving – you have to play all 9 Courses and stick with the same Bertterball partner!

Accommodation was booked for most of the golfers through Golf in the Garden Route at various accommodation establishments..
The guys stayed 2 nights per town – play the courses in the area and then moved along to the next town for accommodation and golf….  And so we travelled till we all stayed in Mossel Bay and play the courses in Mossel Bay…

Day 1: 5th February 2012 We started the Road trip off with 18 Holes at Plettenberg Bay Golf Course

All golfers was requested to be there at 10h30 for the welcoming and briefing…  Golfers started arriving from 08h30 – sjoo…  very keen to start the Road trip I would say!

We kicked off the first day with beautiful weather after the rain we received.  Plettenberg Bay Country Club is in great condition – the boys really enjoyed the golf course and the beauty of the course lay out – scenic views.

Some off our boys had to loosen up a bit as it was the first day!
Not to mentioned names – they know who they are….  – 2 boys couldn’t hit passed the ladies tee’s – fines were handed out – most definitely!
We all enjoyed the 19th Hole followed by Prize Giving & Hamburger & Chips.

Day 2:   6th February 2012 Goose Valley Golf Estate 2 tee start
Today the guys played good golf…  All warmed up after playing Plett the previous day
The guys raved about Goose Valley – not sure if it’s because the course is so well manicured or if it’s because they all played better golf…..  I’m sure it’s because of the condition of the golf course!  Lush green all around!  Well done to all as good scores were handed in!

We enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by the Kitchen and the guys stayed till late enjoying the facilities!

and some having fun to the extreme..  or should I say – a fine…

Each player received a goody bag from SCRATCH GOLF in Knysna on Registration

Pezula is one of the best courses on the Garden Route.  For those who have played Pezula for the first time absolutely loved the golf course – it was a “wow” experience!  Their Club House has been renovated and looks beautiful!   Some good scores were handed in even though the wind made it  more challenging!  The golfers always love playing Pezula – a must play and the Pezula Baboons added to the overall experience!

The guys & girls all arrived an half an hour earlier for their tee time at Knysna in the afternoon – well done boys and girls!  None of them showed lack of energy!  Fit they all are!

They got spoiled with 2 waterholes at Knysna – sponsored by Jetline and Klipdrift!
As the guys finished their round at Knysna – they each received a complimentary drink to congrats them on finishing 36 Holes!  Well done boys and girls!

We had a lovely evening at Knysna Golf Course – enjoying their new Clubhouse!  The food and the venue were excellent! Thank you Quinten & Simon on the Golf Operations side and to Neels and his Kitchen staff!

They made the players feel special with the beautiful décor and setup of the prize giving venue!

We had Peter from Scratch Golf Knysna welcoming the players at Prize Giving and telling them all more about his Golf Shop in Knysna… a must see – a large variety of golfing equipment and clothing and much more… He also offered them each discount on purchases!

Day 4: 8th February 2012 Oubaai Golf Estate 1 tee start
The morning started off with a little a bit of rain – not enough to scare the boys and girls!
The rain disappeared quickly – still being overcast though

Each player received a gift from CABS CAR HIRE in George on Registration

Oubaai is a beautiful golf course and 1 to definitely play if you haven’t yet!  So many of our guests played Oubaai for the first time and loved the course and it’s facilities!  All of the players raved about the course.  Pace of play was a little slow…  but they managed the course in time for us to start with prize giving!  Today they were spoiled with a Waterhole sponsored by Cabs Car Hire – which they loved…

We enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by the kitchen followed by prize giving!

Today we had a B-DAY – Bevan Masters – Happy Birthday Bevan – may 2012 be a year filled with love and joy and success!

The guys were all ready for the 36 Holes – fresh and mentally prepared!  We had beautiful weather at George…  they started off with a waterhole on the 1st – sponsored by Klipdrift – no wonder  the guys played such good golf!
We also had Cabs Car Hire with another waterhole for the boys!  Spoiled they were!

Once again the boys kept up a good pace of play and had more than enough time before they had to tee off at Kingswood in the afternoon!

Kingswood is an awesome golf course – the boys loved the golf course and couldn’t stop speaking about the mountain views from every green!

We had Val the Golf Director at Prize Giving – handing over the prizes to the winners!  Thank you Val for an awesome day and for sponsoring 2 sets of second hand clubs for our Charity!

Day 6:  Mossel Bay Golf Course  2 tee start

First windy day…
The guys had to think before every shot before approaching the ball…..  They all did well considering the wind!

Each player received a magazine from COMPLEAT GOLFER on Registration

Mossel Bay golf course gave excellent service – from the Golf Operation to the Kitchen staff!  Especially Oliver & Ilze
Mossel Bay is a beautiful golf course – sea view from every tee!

Dean Harrison from SKLZ golf training aids in South Africa did a small scale demo on a wide range of training aids to help assist all levels of golfers with their game. Whether it’s putting, swing plane, their grip or weight transfer, SKLZ has a product to help eliminate golfers problems.

Most of the players participated in a Chipping Competition – Night Golf..  Glow in the dark sticks surrounded the green with mind boggling glow in the dark golf balls… something different and something to remember…  Ask Gerrit Roos as he couldn’t stop trying! He enjoyed it the most – “Ne” Gerrit??   Congratulations to Andrion Gouws for getting closest to the pin – 70cm!  He won with compliments from Klipdrift a Cooler Box and Travel Bag!
