POSTED ON: September 15, 2015 IN Property ToursTour of Fancourt:
We had the privilege of doing a site tour & staying over for a night at Fancourt, George, Western Cape, South Africa and we wanted to share this amazing experience with you.
The tour of the property helped us collect footage which our clients don’t usually get to see and we compiled a promotional video clip for you to feast your eyes on.
Promotional Video Clip:
For those individuals that love to read:
Fancourt estate offers two types of accommodation:
1. Fancourt Hotel – suitable for golfers & families
2. The Manor House – a top notch boutique hotel ideal for the discerning traveller and one who aspires to play The Links
Upon arrival, we were met by the porters that swiftly wanted to get our bags out the car and ready to take us, and our luggage to our room after check in. We decided to do the property tour before checking in.
The very professional and friendly gentleman by the name of Corne, who was in charge of showing us around, met us at the porter station with a golf cart, excited to show us around! Still not sure who was more excited, us or him..
The first stretch of the property tour led us to the Master Bedroom Suite at the Manor House. Upon arriving, we were met by one of the butlers on duty that happily shared some of his duties and experiences at the Manor House. They have a 24hour butler service at your absolute beck and call, any time, for any thing your heart desires including complimentary chauffeur service. No reception desk check in either, you are personally checked in by the butler on duty in your room.
Making our way upstairs to view the room, you can’t help but to notice the old school building style with thick walls and wooden staircase blissfully covered with luxury fitted carpeting and solid wood balustrades.
There is no other word to describe your expression as you enter the Master Bedroom – WOW! Absolute luxury from the welcome drinks area, dining room suite to the lounge layout, designed & catered for the elite connoisseur. The suite boasts with a luxurious furniture, decor and a mirror that turns into a television (believe it!) An outside deck meets you with a sunny view of a beautiful pond and terrace right outside the front door downstairs.
The guest bathroom bowls you over with a classy modern finishes you would expect, complete with modern victorian bath, shower and his & hers wash basins. Ensuite to the bathroom, is the guest bedroom with King size bed, modern, clean cut finishes good enough for a Prince & Princess to enjoy a good night’s rest.
On the opposite end of the suite, you walk into the main bedroom fit for a King & Queen! The ensuite bathroom comes complete with a fully equipped vanity station, shower, his & hers washing basin, as well as a modern victorian style batch WITH its own fireplace!
The rest of the Manor House offers you another 11 Luxury rooms which is a scaled down version of the Master Bedroom. Other facilities include a homely library & lounge area that boasts with a huge oak fireplace that is more than 106 years old! The Manor House guests also enjoy access to a private and beautiful pool outside, great for spending your sunny days tanning, swimming & drinking cocktails 🙂
Back in the golf cart, we were driven to the 500 range rooms which consist of luxury & classic rooms – ground level and top level setting. The Luxury room layout includes modern home like feel in the lounge area fitted with coffee station, tv & air conditioning. The bedroom is spacious & neat with more than enough packing space in the built in cupboards. The bathroom is just as spacious and comes complete with heated flooring, heated towel rails, granite tops and tiles, bath, shower and bidet.
The classic room is a smaller version of the luxury room with different decor and no lounge area.
Back to the golf cart for our next stop, we were chauffeured to the 300 range rooms situated on the other end of La Cantina Restaurant. This range of rooms also comprise of Luxury & Classic room options – the only difference between these rooms and the 500 range rooms, besides being in a different location on the property, is a slightly different layout and decor.
Our next stop was the 400 range rooms located further on “down the road” from the 300’s. The 400 room range is available in a classic and family suites offering interleading doors between the suites. Again, only a slight difference in layout and decor to the 300 room range, still offering the same modern country home feel with clean cut & stylish interior finishes.
As we thought we couldn’t be more blown away, Corne took us to the Sports & Leisure Centre where you have the following on offer: Cinema, gym & personal trainer, roman baths, heated swimming pool, kids play area and a reception desk with staff ready to hand you anything from a Tennis racquet to enjoy a game of “HA – IH”, to Mountain Bikes & helmets to enjoy a picturesque ride around the property and a host of other activities you can encounter both on and off premise.
Speaking of picturesque, we were driven off to some beautiful spots around the property where you get to experience the best of nature beside a world renowned golf course, with the Outeniqua Mountains reflecting on water pond surface so still, it looks like they mounted a mirror in it! The setting and surroundings are peaceful, relaxing and absolutely breathtaking!
Rounding up our tour, we head on back to the porter station where the staff gracefully loaded our luggage, parked our car and took us to our room for the night (500’s).
Being rather exhausted, we took a afternoon nap in such a calm and relaxing environment! Waking up super hungry, we called room service and ordered some burgers which arrived about 20mins later. Another knock out for us as we discover how delicious the burgers and chips were! We got a knock on the door not too long after that, one of the housekeeping ladies walked in with pillow cases….
Initially we didn’t understand, but as she fitted the pillowcases, we noticed they were embroiled with our names! We asked the lady what they do with the pillow cases when we leave on which she replied saying that we may take the pillow cases home! Chuffed is an understatement!
We ordered some ribs and dessert later on that evening from room service and once again, the food was absolutely out of this world – we still talk about it today and will for a while to come – we salute you chef, you have truly knocked our socks and taste buds into a different category!
To wrap the evening up, ANOTHER knock on the door.. This time we were surprised with strawberries dipped in chocolate and a bottle of champagne!
Breakfast was just as delicious the next morning and we were very sad that we had to leave!
In closing, we have experienced Fancourt from different angles – not from a guest perspective. Being in this trade for many years and having done many site inspections, this visit to Fancourt has just reminded us of the level of service, quality of service and absolute excellence all round that puts Fancourt in a class of its own!
We hope that this blog and the promotional video clip will entice you to book your golfing holiday with us – we recommend Fancourt to our clients with confidence unlike any other because we believe that the way we were treated, is the way our clients will be treated, and it’s nothing less than TOP NOTCH!

Dear Mariska
Euan and Seumus are driving back from the most spectacular weekend ever. Not only was the accommodation first class, but the arrangements you made for their golf exceeded all expectations. Could you please convey their thanks and appreciation to the owners of the guest house.
Without a doubt they will be back, we will check when Seumus has university holidays as we are hoping it will coincide with your March programme.
Thank you so much for everything, you lead the pack when it comes to top notch service.

Dear Mariska
We have just returned to London after a wonderful golf holiday on the Garden Route.
As usual your organisation was faultless and the whole holiday was a seamless experience. We are now trying to adjust to freezing temperatures in UK.
Once again thank you for your superbly organised holiday.

viewHi Mariska,
We are back home in UK now, had a great time in SA and everything went well with our golf in the Garden Route, although we managed to change our golf days at Pinnacle Point and George due to ‘torrential downpours’………..much needed I know but it did rain for 5 of the 6 days we were there……though not when we played golf,so all was well.
We will certainly consider using your company again when visiting SA although we might choose different accommodation. The Golf Lodge and Town Lodge were very nice but didn’t quite meet our needs…..but it was all very good value.
Best regards
John
